Storage is exciting again
Storage is exciting again right now, with ridiculous performance gains being found from new 3D memory standards and the move over from SATA III to standards like U.2, M.2 and other PCIE based storage. It's amazing to think that we're approaching RAMDISK levels of performance, which seemed like such an expensive pipe dream just a few years ago.

I have to agree though, as the price comes down, the HDD may well go the way of tape drives, only seeing usage in long-term storage solutions.
